Antiseptics

Experience has shown that local antiseptics are no more effective than cleansing with soap and water during HS outbreaks.

Dressings

During major suppuration, hydrocellular or hydrofibre peripheral adhesive dressings can be used to improve patient quality of life. They are absorbent, non-irritating and reduce odours.

Local antibiotics

The level of proof for topical antibiotics is insufficient to recommend their use, considering the risk of developing resistance.
